Fieldstone signs ten-year agreements with the communities it works alongside. Regular monthly gifts are what allow us to sign them honestly.

These descriptions are illustrative of typical costs, not a promise that a specific gift is assigned to a specific item. Fieldstone pools income and allocates it against programme budgets published annually. An organisation that tells you your €30 bought a particular desk is either running a very unusual accounting system or telling you a story.

Why regular giving specifically

Fieldstone's partnership agreements run for ten years. That commitment is only honest if the income behind it is reasonably predictable, and single gifts — however generous — are not. Roughly 62% of individual giving to Fieldstone is monthly, and it is the portion we plan programme budgets against.

It also changes what a community can plan. A school committee that knows its repair fund exists for a decade makes different decisions from one renewing a grant every eighteen months.

What we will not do with it

We will not name a building, a classroom, or a water system after a donor. Those assets belong to the community that maintains them.
We will not send you a photograph of a named child, or any material that trades a person's circumstances for a gift.
We will not restrict a gift to a single village on request. Pooled funding is what allows us to keep a promise in a region that has stopped being fashionable.

Leaving

A regular gift can be stopped at any time, in one step, without a retention conversation. We publish the proportion of supporters who leave each year in the annual review alongside the proportion who join, because only publishing one of those numbers would be a choice.

What supporters ask before giving

How much of a gift reaches programme work?

84.2 cents in every euro was spent directly on programmes in 2025. A further 7.9 cents funded measurement and accountability, 4.6 cents fundraising, and 3.3 cents administration. The full breakdown is published in the annual review.

Why do you commit to ten years?

Because the outcomes we care about — a school that still has teachers in it, a water system still working after the engineers leave — cannot be observed inside a three-year grant. A ten-year agreement also changes the negotiation: a community that knows we are staying asks for different things.

Do you run emergency or disaster response?

No. Emergency response is a distinct discipline with its own logistics, standards, and staffing, and we do not have them. Where a partner region is affected, we support the organisations that do this work rather than improvising it ourselves.

Who owns the schools and water systems you help build?

The community, from the outset. Fieldstone holds no land, buildings, or assets in the regions where it works. Committees are constituted locally before construction begins, not at handover.

How do you decide where to work next?

We do not select regions; we respond to approaches from existing community institutions. A partnership committee assesses whether the priorities named locally are ones we can serve, and we decline more approaches than we accept.

Can I visit a programme?

Not as a supporter visit. Programme sites are schools, homes, and workplaces, and hosting visitors costs staff time that the community has not asked to spend. We publish Field Notes and annual reviews so that the work can be examined without being interrupted.
